Welcome to River City Church!
We meet every Sunday morning at 10:30am at Nisqually Middle School.
(8100 Steilacoom Rd SE, Lacey, WA 98503)
We understand that it can feel intimidating to visit a new church! What do you wear? What is the service like? What are your kids going to do? We hope to answer some of your questions so you can feel comfortable from the start.
What are services like?
Each service begins with worship as an opportunity to express our love and faith in Jesus through music. Don’t worry, you don’t need to have anything memorized or know any special instructions, we simply want you to feel warmly welcomed. After worship, you’ll hear a hope-filled, relevant and practical message from one of our pastors or leaders, usually followed by a time of reflection and response. Services typically last about an hour. We try to keep things casual and authentic.
We aren’t a church of perfect people, we’re all on a journey to experience the hope & healing Jesus brings while practicing the Way of Jesus together. So don’t feel like you have to have your act together before coming, Jesus meets us right where we are and we’re all a work in progress together!
People typically dress casually, including the pastors. When you arrive, you can expect to be greeted by friendly people that genuinely care. So whether this is your first time to church, first time in a long time, or just looking for a place to belong, our hope is that your visit would be relaxed and welcoming.
What about my kids?
At River City Church, we want to partner with parents in developing a deep and lifelong love for Jesus with exciting services tailor-made for kids! River City Kids is available during every Sunday morning service.
When you check your kids into River City Kids, they’ll have a safe, clean, and fun environment where they can learn to love Jesus with all their hearts, discover His life-changing love for them, and make some great friends while doing so!
All of our River City Kids team are background checked, trained and equipped for ministry to children. When you arrive on Sunday, you can head over to the Kid’s Check In area (about half-way down the hall, you won’t miss it!) and one of our Kids Team will help you print off security tags for each of your children at the Check-In Kiosk before showing them where their classes are. At River City Kids, safety is our standard, so we have kiddos checked into their class by a parent or guardian. What is the church like?
At River City, we’re on a mission to see our city radically healed by the love of God as we practice the Way of Jesus together. So as a church community, we’re intentional about being loving and friendly! This is why you’ll be greeted at the doors, are welcome to grab a cup of coffee or tea, see lots of authentic smiles and laughter, and have the opportunity to connect with the team and community at every service. For us, church isn’t a service to attend, but a community to belong to, and you’re always welcome at River City. Always.
What is the worship like?
Our songs are current, upbeat, and celebratory in nature, similar to what you might hear on a Christian radio station. We like to worship God with high-energy music, so if you have sensitive ears, our hosts can help you sit in the right spot or grab you a pair of earplugs. For us, worship is not entertainment, it is how we express our love and gratitude to God, and worshipping through music is just one of many ways we worship.
